Yes. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred stylist and appointment time. You can book online, through the Stonehills app or by calling our Front of House team, who’ll be happy to help you choose the right service and stylist.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure. Whether you’re considering a colour change, hair extensions, a smoothing treatment or simply aren’t sure what your hair needs, we’re here to help.
If you’d like professional advice before booking, we recommend arranging a consultation. We’ll discuss your hair goals, assess your hair and recommend the most suitable service before you commit to an appointment.
Yes. We offer consultations for many of our services, including colour, balayage, colour correction, hair extensions, hair loss solutions and bridal hair.
Consultations are £10, which is fully redeemable against your booked service. During your appointment, we’ll discuss your hair goals, assess your hair, answer any questions and recommend the most suitable approach.
Where appropriate, we’ll also provide a personalised quote, explain the process and discuss maintenance, so you know exactly what to expect before booking.
Our consultations are dedicated one-to-one appointments with an experienced stylist, giving us the time to properly assess your hair, discuss your goals and create a personalised plan tailored to you.
The £10 consultation fee is fully redeemable against your booked service, making it a valuable first step towards achieving your desired result.
If you’re new to Stonehills, haven’t had a colour appointment with us in the last three months, or there have been changes to your medical history, you’ll need a skin test at least 48 hours before your appointment.
This is an essential safety requirement and helps ensure your colour service can be carried out safely.
Not at all. We call it Freedom to Roam.
Many of our guests build a great relationship with one stylist, but you’re never tied to seeing the same person. Whether you’re looking for an earlier appointment, a different specialism or simply fancy a change, you’re welcome to explore our talented team.
Every member of the Stonehills team shares the same commitment to exceptional service, ongoing education and beautiful results, so you can feel confident booking with any of our stylists.
Absolutely. Every member of our team has their own experience, personality and specialist skills, from colour transformations and balayage to precision cutting, extensions, men’s hair, bridal styling and hair loss solutions.
If you’re unsure who would be the best fit, our Front of House team will be happy to recommend the right stylist based on your hair goals.
If you think you’re going to be late, please let us know as soon as possible.
We’ll always do our best to accommodate you, but depending on how late you arrive and the appointments that follow, we may need to shorten or reschedule your appointment to avoid impacting other guests.
We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may incur a cancellation charge in line with our salon policy.
Yes. We welcome children at Stonehills and offer discounted children’s haircuts (up to 11 years old) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Children’s haircuts are not currently available to book online, so we kindly ask that you call the salon and our team will be happy to arrange an appointment for you.
From the age of 12, appointments are charged at our standard adult pricing.
Children’s appointments are currently available by telephone only. This allows our team to ensure the correct service and appointment time is booked for your child.
Please let us know when booking if you have any allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions or concerns that may affect your appointment or the services we provide.
You’ll also be asked to complete a service consultation form before your appointment, where you can share any relevant information with your stylist. This helps us tailor our recommendations and ensure your visit is both comfortable and suitable for your individual needs.
If you’re ever unsure whether something is relevant, we’d always encourage you to mention it – we’re here to help.
A skin test is required at least 48 hours before any colour appointment if you’re new to Stonehills or if it’s been more than three months since your last colour service. This is an important safety requirement and cannot be waived.
If you’re unsure which colour service is right for you, don’t worry. Our team will be happy to guide you. We also recommend booking a consultation, where we’ll discuss your hair goals, assess your hair and recommend the most suitable service.
Absolutely. Inspiration photos are a great way to help us understand the look you’d like to achieve. Your stylist will discuss what’s possible based on your hair type, condition and previous colour history.
Our priority is maintaining the health of your hair. We use professional products, tailor every colour service to your individual hair and can recommend strengthening treatments and homecare to help keep your hair looking and feeling its best.
If you’re new to Stonehills, haven’t had a colour appointment with us in the last three months, or there have been changes to your medical history, you’ll need a skin test at least 48 hours before your appointment.
This is an essential safety requirement and helps ensure your colour service can be carried out safely.
This depends on the service you’ve chosen and your desired look. During your appointment, your stylist will recommend a maintenance plan and suitable homecare products to help keep your colour looking its best between visits.
Hair colour is tailored to every guest, so we can only provide an estimated price before seeing your hair. The final cost depends on factors such as your hair’s length, thickness, condition, colour history and the work required to achieve your desired result. During your consultation, your stylist will assess your hair, discuss your goals and provide a personalised estimate before any colour service begins.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting the occasional colour mark on. Although we take every precaution to protect your clothing with gowns and towels, hair colour and chemical services can occasionally result in accidental staining. For this reason, we advise against wearing delicate, high-value or sentimental clothing, as we cannot accept responsibility for any damage or staining to personal items during your appointment.
Clients under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Colour and other chemical services for minors require parental consent and may not be suitable in every case, as your stylist will always prioritise the health and safety of your hair and scalp.
Your stylist will always assess the condition of your hair before beginning any chemical service. If we believe a treatment could compromise the health of your hair or won’t achieve the result you’re expecting, we’ll discuss the options with you and may recommend modifying, postponing or declining the service in your best interests.
Yes. Clean or day-old hair is perfectly fine for most colour appointments, and you don’t need to arrive with unwashed hair unless your stylist has advised otherwise. We do recommend avoiding heavy styling products, excessive dry shampoo or hair oils before your appointment, as these can affect how your hair is assessed and prepared for your colour service.
No. We generally recommend arriving with clean, dry hair that’s free from heavy styling products where possible, but your stylist will advise if anything different is needed for your appointment.
Every member of our team has their own experience, strengths and specialisms. If you’re unsure, our Front of House team will happily recommend the stylist best suited to your hair, goals and budget.
Of course. Many guests enjoy seeing the same stylist, but you’re equally welcome to book with different members of the team whenever you’d like. It’s completely your choice.

Yes. We offer professional smoothing treatments designed to reduce frizz, improve manageability and make styling easier. During your consultation, your stylist will recommend whether a smoothing treatment is suitable for your hair type, condition and desired result.
No. Smoothing treatments gradually fade over time as your hair grows and is washed. Results vary depending on the treatment used, your hair type and your homecare routine. Your stylist will explain what you can expect before your appointment.
Smoothing treatments are designed to reduce frizz, improve shine and make hair easier to manage while maintaining natural movement. Straightening treatments are intended to permanently alter the hair’s structure to create a straighter finish. We’ll help you choose the option that best suits your hair and styling goals.
Yes. We offer modern perming services to create everything from soft waves and natural movement to more defined curls. Your stylist will discuss the look you’re hoping to achieve and assess whether a perm is suitable for your hair.
Perms are a chemical service, so your hair’s condition will always be assessed before treatment. Modern techniques and professional aftercare can help maintain the health of your hair, and we’ll only recommend a perm if it’s appropriate for your hair type and condition.
Most perms last between three and six months, although this varies depending on your hair type, the style you’ve chosen and how quickly your hair grows. Your stylist will also recommend the best products and aftercare to help maintain your curls for as long as possible.
In many cases, yes, but the timing will depend on the condition of your hair and the services involved. If you’re planning both, let us know when booking so we can recommend the safest approach and schedule your appointments accordingly.
