Alice in Wonderland at Digswell Viaduct brought a little fantasy to a familiar Hertfordshire landmark when The Bite Magazine chose it as the setting for its fashion editorial.
Featured in Issue 39 of the magazine’s Spring/Summer 2026 edition, the shoot took place locally in Welwyn, the home of Stonehills Hair, making this a particularly special collaboration for our team.
The editorial brought together statement fashion, theatrical make-up and creative hair against the dramatic arches and surrounding landscape of the historic viaduct, with hair by Mike and Michael.
Also known as Welwyn Viaduct, Digswell Viaduct carries the East Coast Main Line across the Mimram Valley. Its towering arches, open landscape and striking architectural lines created an atmospheric backdrop for The Bite Magazine’s Alice in Wonderland concept.
The contrast between the historic structure and the imaginative editorial styling gives the finished images a distinctive quality, recognisably local, yet transformed into a setting that feels as though it belongs in another world.
Mike and Michael worked across the collection of looks, creating hair to complement each model, outfit and character while remaining connected to the wider editorial.
From sculpted shapes and polished finishes to softer texture and movement, each look was designed to work alongside the statement fashion and theatrical make-up. The result is a varied collection of editorial hair that changes with each interpretation of Wonderland.
Working outdoors brought its own creative considerations, with every look needing to retain its shape and impact throughout the shoot while responding naturally to the location and movement captured on camera.
Editorial shoots are shaped by the contribution of the entire creative team. Photography, video, fashion styling, make-up, hair and modelling all came together to create the finished Alice in Wonderland story now featured in The Bite Magazine.
